The Canary Islands Astrophysics Institute (IAC) uses the BGAN Explorer 700 equipment on hire from NAUTICAL
The Canary Islands Astrophysics Institute uses the BGAN Explorer 700 equipment on hire from NAUTICAL to transmit form Kenya the total Sun eclipse on the 3rd of November 2013.
Thanks to the European GLORIA (global robotic telescopes intelligent array) project, the natural phenomenon could be seen from any part of the world via internet connection.
Miquel Serra-Ricart an investigator from the IAC coordinated the expedition that observed and transmitted from inside the Sibiloi National Park, live and on the web, the total Sun Eclipse from the North of Kenya. Sibiloi is on the East shore of the Turkana Lake, it is a very special place, because it is also the transit area for migratory birds, a fossil archeological site and a World Heritage Site.
The BGAN Land Satellite Terminals allow you to simultaneously transmit broadband data and voice calls at the same time.
